Sharing of Singaporean Culture - Food
In Singapore, there are 3 main races, namely Chinese, Malay and Indian.
Therefore, as Singaporeans, we have many food choices.
Chinese Food - Chicken Rice
1) Chinese Food - Chicken Rice
- The chicken is boiled in water, and seasoned with light soy sauce when served.
- The rice is cooked with pandan leaves and coconut milk.
- It is served with ginger sauce, chilli sauce and dark soy sauce, to go with the plain water boiled chicken.
2) Malay food - Mee Rebus
Malay Food - Mee Rebus
- Yellow egg noodles is boiled in water and served in spicy-sweet gravy.
- The dish is garnished with lime, beansprouts, dried beancurd, spring onions and chilli.
- Mee Rebus literally means boiled noodles in English.
Indian Food - Roti Pra
- Roti prata is made of flour and cooked over flat grill.
- It is crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, as the dough is span and flipped before it is grilled.
- Roti means bread and prata means flat, so Roti Prata literally means flat bread in English.
- In the past there are only 2 flavours, original and egg, but now it comes in many flavors, such as original, egg, mushroom and cheese.
- It is served with curry, which includes many flavours as well, such as fish, chicken, beef or mutton.
Chilli Padi
The common point between Korean and Singaporean food is that, they are normally spicy.
Korean food is always dressed in spicy sauce and Singaporean food always come with chilli sauce.
Personally, I find Korean spicy sauce rather hot, as compared to the typical chilli sauce in Singapore, however, in Singapore, we do like to use chilli padi which can be very spicy as well.

Announcement
Hello everyone!
Looking back to our memories, we have already held 5 meetings on Tuesdays and/or Fridays in Second Life since April 27, 2012.
Time has flew past so quickly and I hope we have managed to share some wonderful memories and footprints together in our SL journey so far.
Let's applaud ourselves for the effort so far :D and let's keep our interest and passion for SL alive and burning!
Looking forward...we hope that with collaboration from everyone, we can make our SL activities more engaging :)
We will hence like to encourage some new initiatives (as followed) to ensure that everyone can have fruitful and enjoyable experiences in SL.
A. We have discovered two other useful ways to allow for active blogging.
1) There is the blogger app that can be used on iphones and android phones.
It is useful for posting anywhere, anytime you want.
Read more about it here: http://www.google.com/mobile/blogger/
2) You can also post on the blog through SMS/MMS!
*do note that normal SMS/MMS charges according to your default mobile data plans are incurred if you use this function
B. Using our blog to account for attendance.
Since change is the only constant in our fast moving world, we have come up with the above idea to ensure that our meetings will be fun and interesting for all.
We hope that people who are unable to attend a scheduled meeting (either Friday or Tuesday) of any session will inform the other members by leaving a comment on the blog post prior to the meeting.
There will be an announcement systematically uploaded every Monday to provide details on the meetings of that week.
Hence, if you are unable to attend any meeting of that week, do drop us a quick comment to the specific blog announcement beforehand so that we can make some arrangements :)

SL Dance
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in SL last week. Sorry for the background noise I created during the meeting. I will be more careful in handling the speakerphone next time.
I am such a big fan of Big Bang. I would like to upload some gorgeous pictures of Big Bang to SL island. Is there any way to post somthing on SL island?
See you tomorrow.

Korean Week
Last friday we went to a Korean private university and toured around the place. It looked so beautiful! According to Dr Cho, the university looked almost the same to the one in real.
Here's a snapshot of us wearing hanbok, a traditional korean costume.
Did lots of exploration and read about their history. It's indeed an eye-opener :) I think that NIE should also have a place in secondlife for people to visit it!

Gulle for young girls
(source: http://upload.wikimedia.org)
We took Hanbok in Second Life today. Someone asked me what the chain on the hat represents. I found useful information from Wikipedia. It is called Gulle (굴레) used for young girls.
Gulle is a type of sseugae (쓰개), Korean traditional headgear, worn by children aged one year (called dol) to five years old during the late Joseon period. It was mostly worn by young girls in the upper class for warmth and style. Gulle was usually made with silk and in summer, it was made with sa (사, 紗), a type of silk loosely woven (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulle)
BTW, our hat decoration is used for adults.
