Gulle for young girls

(source: http://upload.wikimedia.org)

We took Hanbok in Second Life today. Someone asked me what the chain on the hat represents. I found useful information from Wikipedia. It is called Gulle (굴레) used for young girls.

Gulle is a type of sseugae (쓰개), Korean traditional headgear, worn by children aged one year (called dol) to five years old during the late Joseon period. It was mostly worn by young girls in the upper class for warmth and style. Gulle was usually made with silk and in summer, it was made with sa (사, 紗), a type of silk loosely woven (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulle)

BTW, our hat decoration is used for adults.
